The hi-fi journal

Welcome to The Hi-Fi Journal!

If you, like us, are tired of opening hi-fi magazines and finding that they’re crammed full of reviews of plasma TVs, AV receivers and surround sound speakers, then help is at hand: The Hi-Fi Journal does exactly what the title says — it’s an online magazine that is dedicated solely to pure, high-end hi-fi equipment and the pursuit of musical happiness.

We felt that it was about time that there was a magazine devoted solely to keeping you informed about serious hi-fi with equipment news and reviews, information about the companies that make it, the people behind them, the dealers from whom you can purchase it, and the occasional dash of hi-fi related humour.

To ensure that the journal remains a free resource, we ask that if you’re in the market for hi-fi, please be sure to visit and patronise our advertisers – they’re the people who are paying for the journal after all.

Burson Audio was formed in 1996 by a group of passionate Aussie audiophiles from the Melbourne area: the sole aim of the group was to develop audio projects for group members to improve their own systems. The projects were driven by their desire for perfection rather than commercial gain or notoriety and this ethos is still evident in all Burson Audio products to date. They are designed by audiophiles for audiophiles and as such may seem slightly odd to the uninitiated. This buffer is a case in point. (more..)

Power cables: do they or don’t they make any difference?
This is always a question that causes a mass debate with opposing sides getting quiet worked up and usually ends in a heated exchange of unpleasantries. I am sure that whatever our findings are here we are not going to please everyone.

Our approach is going to be the same as it would be for any other product that we review by using a controlled environment and by listening to the results.
